Ice smiled cruely. Other people might have considered the morals involved in murdering a child in cold blood, but all Ice thought of was the money.
Ice accepted the dagger on the tabel and played it across his finger, looking down at the blade as the light danced across it.
In one fluid movement, Ice had thrown the dagger across the room, heading straight towards the old man that so wanted to be stabbed. Ice was willing to oblige.

Olvan was used to death, he'd been shot before, roasted, frozen, it was nothing new. The momentary pain as his body collapsed, then the dark shadowy spectre flew from the corpse and billowed over him for a few moments. Then he'd sunk inside the dagger, vanishing. But the dagger now glowed with a purple light. "Now take me and go. Find a child. Do not kill him, just his parents."

Ice narrowed his eyes down at the dagger. He had seen too many things in his lifetime to been scared or surprised. He had seen things far more frightening. He had killed things far more frightening. Assassins were hired to kill things other than humans. But Ice had to admit, this was a very different contract to what he would normally do.
He walked across the room, and pulled the knife out of Olvan's chest. It was icy cold to the touch, but there was no blood across the blade, only a dull purple glow that Ice took for Olvan's soul within the blade.
Ice pocketed the knife, he only needed the kill the child with it, the parents could be killed by his own unenchanted blades. Ice turned away from the dead man's body and walked out into the open air. It was dark, and the clouds were covering the moon, only increasing the darkness around them. A perfect night for assassinating.
Slowly, Ice made his way across the street, getting into windows to find a suitable family. It didn't take him long to find a family seated around a dinner table. A mother, a father and a son, perhaps nine years old? Sooty black hair, pale skin and dark brown eyes. The child looked healthy enough.
Silently, Ice opened the door and walked into the house of stealthy feet that made no sound against the wood of the house's floor.
Without saying anything, Ice threw both his blades, and both found their targets. The parents of the child didn't stand a chance. They were not warned and they were not ready or prepared. They never farewelled their son, but it didn't matter, the son's soul would be joining them soon. It was the body that was needed.
The boy retreated into a corner, huddled up and crying. Ice felt no emotion as he pulled the child up, and laid him on the table. He had killed children before.
Ice raised the purple knife high above his head, and brought it down upon the child's chest.

(gonna change the kid's hair colour a little, kay?)
The dagger didn't wound, not physically anyways. It just phased into the child's body doing no physical damage. However his spirit was struck and pulled out of his body and sent off to the afterlife. For a moment the child lay unbreathing and his face trapped in a sobbing, terrified expression. The dagger's light faded, and so did it, disintegrating into dust. Then the face of the child changed to a happy expression, filled with glee. His breathing started again and suddenly the body was full of life.
The child sat up as Olvan sifted through the remaining memories to discover his new name. "Zane eh?" he said, his voice the high, cute voice of a child's. He hopped off the table and quickly found a mirror. He looked at his big, cute brown eyes, the dark brown, almost-black hair that fell to just above his shoulders. His fit body, and reading Zane's memories he could see a love of sport. Always a good sign. And wearing a t-shirt and jeans. A devilish grin cracked the face, and even that sort of seemed cute. "It's perfect. Always have a body that nobody will suspect anything terrible from."
He whirled back to face Ice, who now of course was much taller. Olvan, now Zane, didn't care though. He was glad to have youth back. The strength and energy to jump and run and dance. "Ohh, this one has umbrakinesis. I haven't had those in a while. And cryokinesis too, oh this should be fun."
Finally he put his attention back to Ice. "And now the matter of paying you. Back to the mansion." He sighed "And this time I guess I have to walk. Good thing about being a dagger, no walking."

Ice stood, shrouded in his black cloak and watched as his employer enjoyed the abilities youth had given him. He looked down at the child, it seemed so different to Olvan, but there was a creepy resemblance. Not in his face, or his voice, but in the way the child now moved, the words with which he chose to speak, and the way he looked around. It was a child with the wisdom of countless years, no longer a child of innocence.
Zane? Would his name now become Zane or would he keep the name Olvan? It made little difference anymore what his name was.
Payment. A word so sweet to Ice's ears. He smiled down at the child, still not bothering to say anything. There wasn't anything to say, and the old man. . . now child seemed quite content to listen to the sound of his own, high-pitched voice.
Ice followed Olvan, or Zane, out of the house and down onto the street. It was taking longer than when Ice had walked down, his own long strides had to match those of the child's shorter ones, making Ice need to walk slower than he would have liked.

Zane stopped abruptly. "I can shadowmeld now," he said quite suddenly. "I've been sifting the memories. It seemed this was a lucky choice as this boy is quite powerful. And he was scared because of it." He turned and strode into a lampost's shadow. A moment later he emerged from the shadow of a mailbox down the street. "Cool!" he cried, then did a double-take. "Hmmm, fascinating this modern speech. Youth has such a wide variety of slangs and exclamations."
He dropped back into a shadow and came out of Ice's now. "Hold," he said simply, holding out his arm. "It'll make the journey quicker."

Ice raised his eyebrow as the child transported from shadow to shadow. He had seen some assassins do it, but the gift had never been his. It was a great gift for any assassin, and most who were born with it were sent to the Guild. It seemed this child had never been sent, or he simply hadn't told people. It was a. . . lucky choice after all.
At least, as Zane said, it would make the journey quicker.
Ice set off again, now taking far longer steps as he trusted Zane would reach the house before him. He wasn't sure how far the child could meld, but he assumed to the mansion would be simple enough for him.

Zane emerged from the shadow of his grand staircase. From his new eyes the house seemed so much larger. But it was still his, and the size made it seem more grand. "A child who owns a mansion, how quaint," he mumbled as he waited for Ice's return. He wandered back into his sitting room. There was his old body, in both senses. He grinned, no longer would he have to hobble around in that wrinkled tent.
He made a quick jaunt upstairs to his room. Within was a large bed, king-sized at least. He opened a closet and saw his clothes had changed. "Still working it would seem," he mumbled as he pulled off his current clothes and replaced them with a pair of black jeans and a black t-shirt. When finished he returned to the front to wait.

It wasn't much longer after Zane had changed his clothes that Ice emerged into the mansion through the huge front doors, easily twice his height. Was this how the child had earned his fortune? Ice thought to himself, noticing not for the first time the insane size of the mansion, by being reborn constantly. Ice wouldn't mind being able to do that. He could certainly imagine himself living this kind of life.
He walked back into the living room that was the only room he knew in the house and stood, looking down at the body that Zane had once been a part of. It was good that he had not bled, or it would have stained. Otherwise, the body was eerie. It was not smelling foul, as most bodies would have begun to smell by now. It was like it was simply an old man sleeping, merely without drawing a single breath.

Zane returned to the living room and found Ice. "Ah, you can get mmy old head now." From the back pocket of his jeans he produced a small bag. Almost instantly the bag puffed out as if filled instantly. He shook it and the jingling of gold could be heard. "The amount I offered, in gold. If you'd like it in cash, I can do that too."
Zane kicked back on the couch and with a wave of his hand most of his old body vanisged in shadow. The only thing left was the head. "And now you can get your second bounty. We also both get more money, as this boy was in his parent's will, so I get their money as well. All in all a job well done. We both get richer, I get youth back. You're a very good assassin, or mercenary or bounty hunter or whatever you want to be called."
He sat around. "If I should require your services again, will they be ready as long as I pay?"

Ice leaned forward to take the bag of gold from the boy. The sound of the gold was music within his ears and his smile showed just how much he loved it, and the glory. The smile was gone in an instant though, replaced by his steely, unemotional grimace. His 'game face'. While leaning forward, he also grasped the head of Olvan by the hair and lifted it up. The head was light, or at least it seemed so to Ice. He had done this so many times before. Ice couldn't even remember the first time.
"If you require me again." Ice said, taking a coin out of the bag and flipping it across his fingers. "Send an envelope with just 'Ice' upon it to the Guild of Knives. I'll get it. After getting the envelope," he closed the coin in his fist, "I won't be far away."
